Researcher IDs and Profiles

This guide provides instructions how to create researcher profiles on various platforms and link them together.

Step 1- Search for your Author ID in Scopus

Scopus automatically creates a unique author identifier for each author with documents indexed in Scopus. No registration is needed.

If you already have publications indexed in Scopus, search for your Author ID:

  1. Go to Scopus.
  2. Click on Authors tab and search for your name (by last name and first name; you may also add affiliation) .
  3. Click on the author name that belongs to you .
You will be able to see your list of publications, citation counts and basic metrics.
  4. Locate your Scopus author ID under the profile name .

Kindly ensure the following:

  • To create an account on Scopus if you do not already have one or Log in in the top right corner, to be able to claim the Scopus Author ID.
  • To be assigned a single Scopus Author Identifier and not more.
  • All your publications to be assigned your Author ID.
  • Your Scopus author profile details to be correct.

If more than one entry belongs to you, check these names too and the publications listed under them to confirm. If so, move to step 2.

Step 2 - Merge Scopus Author IDs

If multiple author profiles have been created for you, discrepancies might be caused by different name variantions and/or affiliations. To merge them:

  1. Click on Authors tab and Search for your name.
  2. Select the author names you want to merge.
  3. Click on Request to merge authors to make changes to your profile The Author Feedback Wizard opens. (You need an Elsevier account to complete this process)
  4. In the Author Feedback Wizard, select the details to merge under Preferred Name Format and Current affiliation  .
  5. Update the documents by either adding publications to the merged profile or removing publications .
  6. Click on Continue.
  7. Select the publicationsyou may also locate missing publications to be added.
  8. Review the documents and click Review affiliation (Scopus provides a suggested affiliation for the merged author profiles, but you have the option to select from the drop-down list).
  9. Select an affiliation and click Confirm and Submit.
  10. Review the information then click Submit.

You will receive an automated message from Scopus notifying you of the merge request. The change will be implemented by Scopus team in a few days after the information is verified.

If your work is scattered across many different profiles, or your name occurs very frequently, you may contact the Scopus Author Feedback team.

More details can be found here.

Step 3- Link your Scopus Author ID to your ORCID iD.

After finding your author profile (Step 1):
